We started outside of Detroit in Auburn Hills, MI on a Thursday at Callahan’s. A great new live Blues venue. Our good friends from the Detroit Blues Society were out en’ force that night along with a pile of fans and we had a great time. My old guitarist George Friend came out and sat in. Boy howdy having George and Zach on the bandstand together was something to behold… I thought the stage would burst into flames, it was really great to see and hear George play again. Next stop was Buddy Guy’s in Chicago, all the Gator’s showed up and then some. Since it was Feb. freezing Chicago, we did our best to heat the joint up! Next stop was Waterloo, IA Electric Park Ballroom benefit show for a great radio station in Iowa City… That was the very second to last place that the Buddy Holly, The Big Bopper, Richie Valens played before that fateful night at the Clear Lake IA show when they died in the small plane after show travel….then onto St Louis, a great new venue for me called The Old Rock House… and we did! Watched the snow blast sideways past the club windows as we played. We were super glad to make it back to the hotel as it was an official “White Out” snow storm. I haven’t seen one of those in years…! All in all we had a blast and were really happy to return home to the sunshine and palm trees of home, sweet Los Angeles. Ahhh home for 72 hours then off to the Pacific NW for 2 weeks of shows….
